Meet Ryan OBryan, former on-air personality who, from 2000 to 2005, shared the airwaves with JJS as a junior in high school. Little did he know that this experience would be just the beginning of a remarkable journey that would lead him to a career in technology and radio. In this blog post, we'll explore Ryan's journey from his early days in radio to his current roles at Virginia Western Community College and iHeartMedia.
Ryan's journey began in the early 2000s as a high school junior. During this time, he had the opportunity to work as an on-air personality, sharing the microphone on JJS. These formative years allowed him to develop a passion for radio, music, and connecting with listeners. It was during this period that he realized his love for broadcasting and the power of the airwaves to bring people together.
After high school, Ryan embarked on a new chapter relocating to Harrisonburg, Virginia. This move opened up a world of opportunities in the world of radio. He dived into programming various radio station formats, honing his skills in the industry and gaining invaluable experience. His dedication and hard work in Harrisonburg laid the foundation for his future career in broadcasting.
As time passed, Ryan's interests evolved, and he found himself drawn to the world of technology. He transitioned from radio to the realm of Information Technology, and he hasn't looked back since. Today, he is an integral part of the I.E.T Department at Virginia Western Community College, where he plays a crucial role in educating and deploying new technologies.
Despite his shift towards technology, Ryan's passion for radio never waned. He found a perfect balance by working in the programming department at iHeartMedia. This dual role allows him to embrace both his love for technology and his radio roots. One exciting development is his return to the airwaves with JJS every Sunday from 12 pm to 3 pm. This marks a reunion with his early radio days, bringing new energy to the listeners.
Outside of his professional life, Ryan cherishes his time spent with his daughter, Kaelynn. They enjoy attending festivals, going on hikes, and exploring the beautiful parks that Roanoke/Lynchburg has to offer.
Ryan's journey from a high school junior on the radio to a tech-savvy professional with a dual role in education and broadcasting is a testament to the unpredictability of life's twists and turns. Listen to Ryan OBryan every Sunday 12p - 3p on JJS, the #1 Hit Music Station!
