Community members are encouraged to wear purple on Tues., Dec. 17 to show support for ABC 13 - WSET News Anchor Mark Spain who is currently battling pancreatic cancer.

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — When ABC13's Mark Spain was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, the news was met with an outpouring of support from the community.

Thousands of people have voiced prayers and encouragement for Mark through social media, and our station has received dozens of calls, messages, and cards for Mark.

Last week, the team at WSET started wearing purple, one of Mark's favorite colors, and the color representing pancreatic cancer.

On Tuesday, December 17, WSET is inviting everyone in the community to participate in a Purple Out day for Mark.

We are all in this with Mark so he can remain #SpainStrong.
