Heavy Rain, Strong Winds in Our Area From the Remnants of Hurricane Helene

From ABC 13 - WSET Meteorologist Thomas Battle:

We're expecting 1-3" of rainfall across the region with some spots possibly getting even more.

Some wind gusts upwards of 30-40 mph could knock down some trees, so power outages are a possibility for some of us.

Flooding is the primary concern for our area.

If you find high water covering roadways, find an alternative route.

We could see some tornado-warned storms throughout the day as well, so make sure you have a way to receive weather alerts on your phone or at home.

An earlier tornado warning for Martinsville and Henry County has been canceled.

Flash flood warnings and evacuations are occurring in the Grayson County and the Wytheville areas.

About 60,000 customers in our area are without power.
