LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — On Wednesday, Holly and Steve Haddox, with their 15-year-old dog Sadie by their side, got the call of a lifetime. They won the 2024 St. Jude Dream Home.
"We're all here and we just wanted to congratulate you," ABC13's Danner Evans told Haddox over the phone.
"We thought that it was spam. That's not something that you hear. It was incredible," Steve and Holly said."It's a dream come true.
The couple said they donate to charity often, so they didn't think twice about buying a dream home ticket.
"We got a flyer in the mail and we talked about giving to charities, and he says I give to too many and that I should focus enough on one, and I said 'okay, fine I'll buy two tickets. This is a wonderful cause,'" Holly said. "So, I did, and I didn't think anything of it."
They never imagined they'd actually win the giveaway.
The couple said they love to give back, so their contribution to St. Jude is worth even more to them than a dream home.

The new home is a 3-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, two-story house with a double garage and a great outdoor living space. The home, located in the Blackwater Run community off Rivermont Ave., is valued at $520,000.
