Workers at the I-81 & Roanoke St Starbucks in Christiansburg have filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to unionize with Starbucks Workers United.
The Christiansburg workers were joined by baristas from 21 Starbucks stores in 14 states who are also seeking union elections.
Workers from all the petitioning stores co-authored a letter to Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan expressing their concerns about wages, hours, schedules, and doing more work with fewer employees.
They also expressed concerns about discrimination and harassment.
Since December 2021, nearly 400 Starbucks stores in 42 states and the District of Columbia with almost 10,000 workers have unionized.
