AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — Two people have been arrested after seven children at a school in Amherst County ate gummy bears from a plastic bag that tested positive for fentanyl, according to court documents.
ABC13 acquired the documents detailing the arrests of Clifford Dugan and Nicole Saunders after the incident at Central Elementary School.
Tuesday afternoon, Amherst County Public Schools sent a release stating that seven students had some type of allergic reaction to something they ate at school.
Later, officials said they had discovered the allergic reaction was actually their response after eating gummies shared among the children from a bag, which tested positive for fentanyl.
Dugan is facing a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as well as possession of a firearm within 10 years of being convicted of a felony.
Saunders is charged with intentionally possessing Schedule I or II drugs, which court records said was methamphetamine.
