Today and Friday, Gleaning For The World is hosting a collection in front of Sam’s Club on Wards Rd in Lynchburg as part of their Helping Our Neighbors program.
The items donated during this collection will be distributed to families and individuals in Central Virginia who could use a hand up this holiday season.
GFTW will be collecting nonperishable foods, hygiene supplies, and winter wear such as warm gloves, socks, and blankets in front of Sam’s Club in Lynchburg on Thursday, November 30 and Friday, December 1 from 10am until 6pm both days.
A detailed list of requested supplies will be available at the collection site and can also be found on Gleaning’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.
All donated items must be brand new, unused, in unopened packages, and in any quantities.
“One of the most powerful and important ways each of us can help our neighbors is to let them know they are not alone,” Jeane Smiley-Mason, Gleaning’s president explained.
“Our goal is to help provide those important and needed supplies for families and individuals in Central Virginia who are facing difficult circumstances in this season,” Smiley-Mason added.
Supplies may also be dropped off at Gleaning For The World, Monday through Friday, 9am until 5pm each day at their warehouse, 7539 Stage Road, Concord, Virginia.
Financial donations can be made at the collection site, online at gftw.org, or by mailing a check to GFTW, PO Box 645 Concord, VA 24538.
Please call Gleaning For The World at 434-993-3600 to donate over the phone or to discuss additional ways that you, your family, group, or church can help.
