BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — The Bedford Fire Department said a man was struck by lightning while hiking Sharp Top Mountain Wednesday afternoon.
The Bedford Fire Department responded to the top of Sharp Top Mountain at about 1:20 p.m.
According to the Bedford Fire Department, when crews made contact with the patient, he was alert and conscious but had complaints of pain, weakness and tingling in his extremities.
They brought him medical supplies and wheeled the patient down the trail.
He was transported to Bedford Memorial Hospital with what authorities called non-life threatening injuries.
