Expect Slippery Roads in Our Area as Snow Changes to Freezing Rain

(WSET) — The expected Winter Storm is moving in Sunday, bringing a mess of snow and ice to Virginia.

The precipitation order will be: light snow > heavy snow > sleet > freezing rain > rain > light, dry snow.

This Winter Storm will be a long-duration storm with at least 12 hours of precipitation.

Snowfall amounts of 2” to 5” are likely in the Lynchburg area. Roanoke is 6” to 8” and Danville is under 3”.

The wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain will continue to slide north through the afternoon.
