LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — With an above-average and dry start to winter, changes are coming quickly overnight into Monday.
While Sunday will see highs in the upper 60s, a combination of cold air and heavy wet snow could overcome the warm ground for accumulation by Monday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of the region ahead of this system.
3-6" of snow is expected in the Roanoke/Lynchburg areas, with 4-8" of snow in higher elevations.
This system will be winding down by noon Monday. Southside has a lower chance of accumulating snow.
