Man shot, killed in Halifax County home

A man is dead after being shot and killed in a Halifax County home Sunday.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a report that a man had been shot during a break-in around 7:30 p.m.

According to investigators, evidence found at the Union Church Road home indicates it wasn't a break-in.

The Sheriff's Office said investigators believe the woman who owns the home shot and killed the man, and that the two knew each other.

The case is under investigation and charges are still pending.
