Governor Northam says Virginia's COVID cases continue to trend downward -- fewer than 1,000 per day -- and vaccine numbers continue to go up, to the point that the state is considering lifting all COVID-related limits on June 15.
Virginia's COVID test positivity rate this week stands at 4.4%.
Northam says about 46% of adult Virginians have received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine, with about 33% fully vaccinated. For those 65 or older, about 50% are fully vaccinated. About 66% of school workers across the state are fully vaccinated.
The Governor says more mobile vaccine programs will be launched next week and that community vaccination sites are now accepting walk-ins. With more pharmacies and grocery stores offering services, Northam says a COVID vaccine is easy to get.
When asked how the state should deal with vaccine hesitancy, Northam said, "We will encourage people and will listen to their concerns. We need everyone to join together."
