Some Virginia Walmart, CVS Pharmacies to Administer COVID-19 Vaccines

LYNCHBURG (Va.) WSET — CVS will begin administering the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible individuals in Virginia as of next Thursday (February 11).

For CVS Pharmacy locations that will begin to offer the coronavirus vaccine, appointments for those eligible will become available for booking as soon as next Tuesday (February 9) as locations receive shipments of the vaccine.

Participating CVS Pharmacies are located in communities throughout Virginia including Bedford, Blacksburg, Chesapeake, Fredericksburg, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, Roanoke, Stafford and Virginia Beach. The company will expand to more locations and offer additional appointments as more supply becomes available.

In addition, Walmart and Sam’s Club announced that their pharmacies can now accept and administer federal allocations of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The companies are working with the federal government to help increase access to COVID-19 vaccines at select pharmacies in 22 states, including Virginia, starting late next week.

In Virginia, the state allocates which locations receive the vaccine and how many, and the following Walmart stores are among the participants:

  • 976 Commonwealth Blvd. Martinsville, Va.
  • 197 Madison Heights Sq Madison Heights, Va.
  • 505 Oakville Road Appomattox, Va.
