GFTW Giving Out 'Sweet Treats' to Thank Donors This Week

You usually see the Gleaning For The World truck in front of Sam's Club on Wards Rd. in Lynchburg collecting non-perishable foods and disaster relief supplies to distribute around the country and around the world.

But this time, GFTW wants to give back to the generous Lynchburg community by handing out "sweet treats" to area shoppers.

This week, from Wednesday, January 20 through Friday, January 22, from 10 am until 6 pm each day, GFTW will be giving away the treats at the store's exit as their way of saying "Thank You" to the community that has supported them over the last 22 years.

“Giving away chocolates and other goodies this week is just Gleaning’s way of showing our gratitude to our neighbors who repeatedly fill our truck with critically-needed supplies during times of natural disaster, and to those who support us year-round. We are not asking for any donations this week. We’ll simply be out there saying thank you,” Gleaning For The World’s president Jeane Smiley-Mason explained.
