Here's How You Can Get in Line for the COVID-19 Vaccine in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Virginians can now take a short assessment to determine when they are eligible to get the vaccine on the Virginia Department of Health's (VDH) website.

The Central Virginia Health District (CVHD) is pre-registering people in the Lynchburg area to receive the vaccine.

CVHD said it is working with community partners in Lynchburg and the surrounding counties of Amherst, Bedford, Appomattox and Campbell to make sure people who fall into prioritized groups have access to the vaccine. Currently, CVHD said it is vaccinating group 1a and actively planning for phase 1b.

The VDH defines Phase 1a as health system personnel with direct contact or a high risk of contact with COVID-positive patients.

Phase 1b will include:

  • Frontline essential workers
  • People aged 65 years and older
  • People living in correctional facilities, homeless shelters and migrant labor camps
  • People aged 16 through 64 years with a high-risk medical condition or disability that increases their risk of severe illness from COVID-19

If, based on the assessment, people discover they fit into Phase 1a or 1b for vaccination, CVHD said they can pre-register for the vaccine by calling 434-477-5965.
