LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) —The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch and Warning along with a Winter Weather Advisory ahead of freezing rain, sleet and snow.
Snowfall amounts will be insignificant compared to the ice threat for parts of the ABC13 area.
Most snowfall totals will be under 1 inch, including Lynchburg.
Early Wednesday morning snow will change to sleet, then freezing rain.
An ice build-up (thickness of ice on trees, for example) of 0.25 inches to 0.50 inches is likely on Wednesday. Any ice build of more than 0.25 inches usually results in power outages.
Icy roads/slippery outdoor surfaces will create widespread travel delays. Motorists are asked to be cautious while driving Wednesday.
