Academy Runs Art Supply Drive to Provide At-Home Arts Access For Kids

Academy Center of the Arts is holding an art supply drive this month to provide 1,200 Lynchburg area kids the materials and instructions to create art projects at home.

The Art Supply Drive will run for the month of October, collecting donations on-site and online from a digital ‘wish list.’ The Academy will then bag the kits and partner with Lynchburg City Schools to deliver them to students during meal delivery through the school bus routes in November.

This drive aims to supply students with needed supplies to complete an at-home paint project, entitled ‘Fall Q-Tip Trees‘. Each student will receive a kit of supplies as well as full step-by-step instructions to complete the project, only requiring students to provide paper towels, water, and a flat surface to paint on.

The Academy is seeking donations of the following products for students to complete this project:

  • Q-Tips
  • Rubber Bands
  • 8×10 Canvas
  • Primary Color Paint Set
  • Brush Set
  • Plastic Paint Palette

Donations to the Art Supply Drive can be accepted online through an Amazon Wish List or on-site at the Harrington Gallery, M-F, 9AM-5PM, at 600 Main Street.

Purchase the supplies listed above through Amazon to be delivered right to the Academy's door, or gather supplies on your own to donate directly to the drive.
