The Virginia Department of Health is reporting 86,072 cases of the coronavirus on Monday, July 27, an increase of 1,505 cases from Sunday, although that number includes some delays in reporting cases over the weekend due to VDH website maintenance.
The number of deaths reported is 2,082, an increase of four from Sunday.
On Saturday, July 25, Gov. Ralph Northam tweeted that Virginia may have to take "additional steps to blunt the spread of this virus." Northam says that while cases in Northern Virginia have declined, cases have spiked in the Hampton Roads area.
"Wear a mask and practice physical distancing so we don't have to move back," Northam wrote.
