Van Pulled from James River Belongs to Man Missing Since 2013

AMHERST CO., Va. (WSET) -- Several vehicles have been pulled from the James River at Monacan Park in Amherst County.

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office said Virginia State Police helped them recover a truck and boat trailer that were accidentally sunk into the James River Friday, July 17.

After they pulled the truck and trailer out, the sheriff's office said they discovered a white van.

Law enforcement returned to Monacan Park Tuesday to pull the van out and discovered two additional vehicles in the river. The white van was towed off to the sheriff's office where it sits with a blue tarp on the windshield.

The sheriff's office announced Wednesday that the van has been identified as belonging to a man reported missing in 2013.
