BALCONY FALLS, Va., (WSET) -- Three people were rescued from the Balcony Falls area of the James River Sunday afternoon.
According to a Facebook post by the Big Island Volunteer Fire Company, swift water resources from Bedford County, Amherst County, and Rockbridge County also responded.
Officials say they received a report for an injured person in the water.
As of 4:00 p.m. Glasgow's boat had made contact.
According to the Forest Volunteer Fire Department, three people were taken off of the river by crews and the Big Island Emergency Crew said one person died.
