Meghan Markle and Prince Harry officially stepped down from their roles within the Royal Family and settled in Malibu, California. According to Page Six, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have moved into a home in the gated Serra Retreat community. While this private location will give them some reprieve from being in the public eye, a βhotbed of around 300 photographers" reportedly wait outside the community in order to capture celebrities coming and going.
Los Angeles based photographer Mark Karloff spoke to the Daily Star about Harry and Meghan's new life in California, as well as what he expects their relationship to the paparazzi to look like. βThis is LA, there are probably 200 to 300 photographers around, theyβre really hungry for pictures right now,β he explained. βIf they were out and about, they could expect to get it constantly if they decide to frequent any place."
βThere are different breeds of photographers, there are photographers we would call savages that will pretty much do anything to get a picture,β he continued. βThey will stay as many hours as they need to wait for an exit or wait for them to come out.β His advice for the Sussexes is to form a relationship with "some of the best photographers out there" for exclusive photo opportunities while they're out in public so they can avoid being swarmed by a large crowd of paparazzi.
Karloff isn't the only one giving Harry and Meghan advice on how to deal with the paparazzi, either. While speaking to Andy Cohan, Lindsay Lohan shared some tips for avoiding the paparazzi while living in Malibu. βI mean unless they own a different private beach, you canβt go to those beaches,β Lohan said of the public beaches in Malibu. βYou canβt even surf out far enough. Itβs just really hard to do anything.β Lohan also believes the couple should "just get drivers" for all their outings because it's safer than driving themselves.
