Gleaning For The World in Concord has received a shipment of 45,000 pounds of potatoes which it will begin to distribute to area food pantries, shelters, churches, and other non-profits this week to meet the increase in food needs of individuals and families.
“Food insecurity is real, even now more than ever,” Jeane Smiley-Mason, Gleaning’s president said. “The community outpouring to take care of our neighbors during these unprecedented times has been incredible and it is our hope that these potatoes will be a blessing to families and individuals all over the region.
“Working with our partners at Society of St. Andrew, we were able to secure this truckload of potatoes with the goal of distributing them to anyone who needs a hand up right now,” Smiley-Mason added.
