RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) -- Coronavirus cases and deaths in Virginia continues to rise.
The latest data shown by the Virginia Department of Health show that there are now 4,509 total cases and 772 people have been hospitalized.
The VDH says there are 121 total deaths statewide. This includes a Central Virginia Health District resident, two deaths from the Alleghany Health District, a man from the Farmville area and a man in the Mount Rogers Health District.
Dr. M. Norman Oliver, the Deputy Commissioner for Population Health at the VDH, said the recovery cases are not reported to the VDH. They know when there are positive cases that are discharged or result in death, but there is no way to track the recovery number.
On Thursday, April 9, Carilion said some employees have tested positive for coronavirus over the past few weeks.
