Glad Plant in Amherst re-opening After Coronavirus Cases, Deep Cleaning

AMHERST Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Glad Manufacturing Company in Amherst will open a couple days early after voluntarily suspending operations due to COVID-19.

The company said it was voluntarily suspending operations for 14 days on March 21 after they said two employees reported as positive for coronavirus.

The Virginia Department of Health confirms that there are three cases of coronavirus in Amherst, but did not connect those cases to the Glad Manufacturing Company. As of Monday, March 30, there were 1,020 cases, 136 hospitalizations, and 25 deaths in Virginia.

Glad said they announced plans to reopen on April 1, which is two days shy of the full two week suspension.
