Va Dept of Health Reports 94 Active Cases in State

RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) -- The number of coronavirus cases has jumped from 77 to 94 from Wednesday to Thursday, according to the Virginia Department of Health

The VDH posted new numbers at noon Thursday, March 19 showing two deaths, 19 hospitalizations, and 1,923 tests.

Two men in their 70s have died from the virus.

On Thursday, the Three Rivers Health District Director Dr. Richard Williams announced a child under the age of 10 tested positive in Gloucester County.

The Virginia Department of Health said they expect the cases to continue to rise and will update the numbers at noon each day and Northam will be holding a press conference every day to keep Virginians updated. A press conference has been scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday.

The VDH said two cases are patients in a long-term care facility, which is very concerning.
