Carilion Clinic Outlines Coronavirus Plans

ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) -- Carilion Clinic held a press conference Wednesday about where the healthcare system is with coronavirus cases.

165 coronavirus tests have been sent to the lab. Around 50 of the results received so far have ALL been negative.

Carilion says they are taking action to help to limit the spread of the virus across the region. All their wellness sites are now closed and they are canceling non-essential surgeries to make resources and sites more available in preparation of positive cases.

"If the need arises we have capacity at community hospital to open up additional beds to care for people. It’s in the range of 60 beds- and other examples like that exist." said Paul R. Skolnik, M.D. a Senior Vice President and Chair Department of Medicine.

Carilion says they are also working to get more respirators should they need them. They currently have 150 ICU beds at Roanoke Memorial.
