Lynchburg Cancels/Postpones Events Due to National Coronavirus Outbreak

Lynchburg Mayor Treney Tweedy announced that a number of events in the city are being canceled or postponed, including the Citizens Academy, the Citizens Police Academy, the State of the City Address, and the International Festival that was slated for May 2.

Tweedy's main message was to not panic but to be prepared.

Governor Ralph Northam has declared a State of Emergency amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Virginia Department of Health reports that Virginia now has a total of 17 confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
