RAILROAD EARTH, POPULAR NEW JERSEY AMERICANA GROUP, HEADED TO SALEM WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2020

More highly acclaimed musicians, who rely heavily on bluegrass, folk, jazz and rock influences, are headed to Salem in February of 2020. Americana music group, Railroad Earth, will perform at the Salem Civic Center on February 19, 2020.

“We use unique acoustic instrumentation, but we’re definitely not a bluegrass or country band, which sometimes leaves music writers confused as to how to categorize us,” says singer and violinist Tim Carbone. “We’re essentially playing rock on acoustic instruments.”

Known for its improvisational prowess, Railroad Earth was formed in 2001 in Stillwater Township, New Jersey and to date has released nine albums. If you listen to the band’s music you can certainly hear traditional bluegrass tones, but the members also use drums and amplifiers, to compliment the acoustic instruments.

“I always describe it as a string band, but an amplified string band with drums,” says lead singer Tim Carbone. “We’re a Country & Eastern band.”

The music isn’t the only thing different. Unlike most musical acts today, the group has a very liberal policy when it comes to taking photos and recording videos during their shows. For that reason and more, Railroad Earth has cultivated a very large and loyal fanbase that supports the band all over the country.
