The Roanoke Police Department has identified the victim killed in Roanoke on January 7, 2020 as Mahir Umar Abdullah 63, of Roanoke.
Police responded to the 800 block of Shenandoah Avenue, NW in reference to a report of suspicious circumstances Tuesday night just after 10:30 p.m. Arriving officers located an injured adult male being attended to by Roanoke Fire-EMS. The man was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he died a short time later.
Police said they are investigating the incident as a homicide. No arrests have been made and this remains an ongoing investigation.
