Christiansburg Police respond to a report of a bomb threat

The Christiansburg Police Department responded at about 9:03 a.m. today to a report of a bomb threat at a business on Roanoke Street.

Carilion Clinic Family Medicine, at 205 Roanoke Street, received a suspicious phone call indicating a bomb threat. The business evacuated voluntarily. Two K-9 units searched and cleared the parking lot and building, and officers completed a walk-through of the building before the business reopened at about 10 a.m. No evidence of a bomb was located.

Virginia State Police searched VelocityCare at 434 Peppers Ferry Road, N.W.with a K-9 unit, as well, because VelocityCare’s phone number is one digit removed from Carilion Clinic’s. That business was also cleared with no evidence of a suspicious item.

Christiansburg Fire, Christiansburg Rescue, Virginia State Police and Virginia Tech Police’s K-9 unit assisted in responding to these reports.
