A Silent Film Halloween at the Academy

Scare up some fun when the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra presents Spooky Silents: A Silent Film Halloween!

The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra, hailed as “the premier American ragtime ensemble”, will bring tears of laughter to your eyes as you laugh out loud to the masters of silent comedy in their Halloween-themed movie classics: Charlie Chaplin in The Adventurer (1917), Buster Keaton in The Haunted House (1921) and Laurel & Hardy in Habeas Corpus (1928), all accompanied live with their original historic orchestral scores.

Between the films, Director Andrew Greene and the Peacherine Ragtime orchestra will play the rollicking rhythms of the early 20th century, featuring favorites by Scott Joplin, Irving Berlin, and the creators of America’s first popular music: Ragtime!

Local Ragtime performer Brian Wright will open for the Peacherine Ragtime Orchestra.
