Bedford County hunter, oldest in North America, has passed away

The man considered the oldest hunter in the country has passed away.

Clyde Roberts, who turned 105 lastyear, is from Bedford County and made a name for himself being known as the oldest hunter in North America.

Since turning 100, Clyde killed 13 deer and added two bucks last season.

"[Tuesday] the world lost a great man," wrote the Virginia whitetails on Facebook. "It's with a heavy heart I share the news that the hunting Legend Mr. Clyde Roberts has passed away at 105 years old."

When Clyde retired at 65, his son Mike Roberts taught him how to hunt and he was invited to hunt across the state, garnering national attention.

"He inspired so many more of us in the outdoor world than he could have ever imagined," Virginia whitetails continued. "I remember the first deer that we shared on this page, I believe he was 98 at the time. We’ve all enjoyed watching the amazing journey of Mr.Roberts, far past triple digits."
