Juvenile hit by car in Roanoke this morning, police are investigating

This morning, at around 8:00 a.m., Roanoke Police responded to the intersection of 9th Street and Murray Avenue SE regarding a person being hit by a car. Officers located a juvenile female in the roadway. She was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the vehicle was stopped in the roadway, allowing other children to cross the street. The driver proceeded through the intersection when it was clear. It was at that time the child entered the roadway. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges have been placed at this time.
