WEATHER: More showers and storms for this afternoon

Severe weather and slow moving storms hit many areas yesterday, bringing hail, high winds, damage and flooding to southwest and central Virginia.

More showers and storms are in the forecast for today.

According to Melissa LeFevre, meteorologist for ABC-13 WSET, while the severity shouldn't be as intense as yesterday, you'll still want to remain weather awake and keep your eye to the sky.

Heading into the afternoon and evening, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop.

Once again, we’ll have to watch for heavy rain which may cause more flooding.

This is especially a concern for areas where the ground is quite saturated from previous rain. Some stronger storms may have gusty winds and even some hail.

This weekend features a continued chance of rain, but coverage shouldn’t be as widespread as the past few days.

Rain chances are around 40% with scattered showers and storms still possible. Highs hover near 85.

Heading into next week, more showers and storms are in the forecast for Monday. We remain in the mid 80s.

Tuesday and Wednesday look drier and warmer.
