Churches partner to hold basketball tourney; winning team gets free shoes

Church members at several Lynchburg area churches are partnering up to hold a Back to School Basketball Tournament.

Joseph Doswell, Richard Smitherman, Brandon Carter, and Tobais Deloatch are coming together to help the kids and single parents in the community.

Officials say all players on the winning team will receive free sneakers just in time for the upcoming school year.

In a Facebook post, Doswell writes, “We want to help out some parents this year and take the stress of trying to scramble up money for school shoes!”

Anyone who is in middle school or high school can participate.
