Former Bedford Co. SRO charged for inappropriate relationship with teen

A former Bedford County school resource is officer has been charged after a nine-month-long investigation determined he contributed to the delinquency of a minor.

Virginia State Police began their investigation into complaints made against Cpl. Daniel Clark, the school resource officer (SRO) at Liberty High School, in November 2018 that he had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Within an hour of getting the complaint, the sheriff's office said Clark was placed on administrative leave with pay.

He then resigned from the sheriff's office.

After state police wrapped up their investigation, they presented their findings to Andrew Nester, the special prosecutor in the case, who determined there was enough evidence to bring criminal charges against Clark.

An arrest warrant shows Clark is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class 1 misdemeanor.
