Bedford County: Animal shelter asking public to adopt long-time shelter dog

Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter are asking the public to adopt a long-time sheltered dog.

The animal shelter put out an urgent call on Facebook saying Mr. Tip is in need of a home of his own.

"Right now the shelterโ€™s longest timer, Mr. Tip is experiencing extreme kennel/ stranger stress," they wrote on the post.

Officials at the shelter say animals often decline being confined in their kennel for a long time. The animal becomes frustrated and protective of their space and after watching people walk by their cages, over time they go from hopeful and barking for attention to frustrated and agitated.

This can cause the animal's chances of adoption to be even slimmer.

The post continues to say, "Tip is smart and eager to please. He loves to roll in the grass, bask in the sunshine, and play with toys."
