A Scott Brother Has Revealed He's Suffering From A Mysterious Illness

On the latest episode of Property Brothers: Forever Home, Drew and Jonathan Scott helped someone very close to them - their brother JD. It turns out, the home makeover was especially important to their older brother because in an Instagram post, JD just revealed that for the past year he has been suffering from a mysterious illness. In a 26 minute long video, the 43-year-old JD and his fiancee, Annalee Belle, discussed his health struggle, which includes an extreme sensitivity to temperatures over 70 degrees. When JD is in the heat, he feels like is skin is on fire and often times he passes out. It's a big problem since they live in Vegas.

JD explains there have been times where he has had to stay in bed for days on end because of the sickness, and he has undergone many tests, including multiple MRIs. Doctors at first thought he had an autoimmune disease like lupus, but after many months, they began to suspect he had two brain aneurysms. So JD and Annalee visited a neurosurgeon but he was fairly certain Scott did not have aneurysms rather he felt "a new pathway" formed in JD's brain, which can happen and is thankfully not life-threatening. However, it put JD back at square one.

Things got worse for JD - walking too much would bring symptoms including what he called "a crawly feeling" in his head. One doctor diagnosed that as a nummular headache - a rare occurrence he prescribed medicine for. He also surmised that JD could be suffering from a few different things all at once since the meds helped JD's head, but not his heat sensitivity.

Another doctor discovered an infection that caused Scott's body to react like it would to an autoimmune disease. Antibiotics and a diet without dairy, soy, wheat, gluten and sugar seem to have helped JD a bit, but he refers to his recovery as a "work in progress." Emotionally though, JD has been through the wringer, saying that it's taken a toll on him and at one point he was "pretty sure [he] was dying." It's also been lonely for the couple since, according to Annalee, many people thought Scott was just being "dramatic" and "a lot of people just haven't checked in and they know how bad it is. It's felt kind of lonely." They urged their followers to reach out to any friend who is suffering from an illness or has a partner who is.

They do wind up explaining that "things are looking better" and while they held off posting about the illness since JD likes to keep his socials positive, he felt it was important to share the story. They also spoke about how much appreciation they have for their followers and the love their fans showed them.
