A former Liberty University professor has been found guilty of trying to have sex with a minor.
Stephen Kilpatrick was taken into custody last June after ICAC investigators said he traveled to meet someone he believed was an underage girl.
Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Stacey Stickney said he was found guilty on three counts of computer solicitation of a minor and two counts of computer solicitation of a minor, second or subsequent offense.
Stickney said the case involved an undercover investigators posing as a 13-year-old girl.
The jury recommended he spend 35 years in jail.
He will be formally sentenced in September.
Liberty said Kilpatrick, who was an associate professor of mathematics, was fired from his position.
