FBI identifies hiker killed in Appalachian Trail attack

The FBI has identified the victim killed in an alleged attack along the Appalachian Trail on May 10, 2019.

They said 43-year-old Ronald Sanchez of Oklahoma died after being stabbed by a man who had threatened his group earlier in the day. Another hiker was injured as well.

The suspect, 30-year-old James Jordan, has been charged with murder and appeared in court on May 13, 2019.

According to the FBI, the identify of the surviving victims will not be released at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation.
