NWS confirms at least 14 tornadoes touched down in Virginia last Friday

The National Weather Service said at least 14 tornadoes touched down in Virginia on Friday, April 19, 2019.

Survey teams are still assessing some of the damage that tore through parts of our state Friday. They determined that straight line winds caused the damage seen in parts of Halifax County.

FRANKLIN COUNTY: EF-3 tornado with max speed of 159 mph.

BEDFORD COUNTY: EF-1 tornado with max speed of 93 mph.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY: EF-0 tornado with max speed of 70-80 mph.

GLOUCESTER COUNTY: EF-0 tornado with max speed of 80 mph.

GREENVILLE COUNTY: EF-0 tornado with max speed of 65-75 mph.

GREENVILLE COUNTY: EF-0 tornado with max speed of 70 mph.

FAIRFAX COUNTY: EF-0 tornado with max speed of 70 mph.

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY: EF-1 tornado with max speed of 90-95 mph.

SUSSEX COUNTY: EF-0 tornado with max speed of 70-80 mph.

LOUISA COUNTY: EF-2 tornado with max speed of 115-120 mph.

ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY: EF-0 tornado with max speed of 75-80 mph.

GREENSVILLE COUNTY: EF-1 tornado with max speed of 85-90 mph.

CHARLES CITY COUNTY: EF-2 tornado with max speed of 125-135 mph.

YORK COUNTY: EF-0 tornado with max speed of 85 mph.

NEWPORT NEWS: EF-0 tornado with max speed of 70 mph.
