May 25, 2018 - A two-year-old boy that police say accidentally fatally shot himself on Tuesday at a Roanoke apartment did it while he was alone, according to search warrants filed in court.
According to the warrants, witnesses said the child was in a room alone when they heard a pop and they wet into the room where they found the boy with a gunshot wound to his head.
Just after 12:00 p.m., that warrants indicate that police pulled over a vehicle on Melrose Avenue at Peters Creek Road, NW, as the parents were taking the boy to the hospital.
In a new release on Tuesday, Roanoke Police said officers were, "flagged down" by a vehicle. The boy's parents told police their son had accidentally shot himself in their apartment on Bennett Drive.
