Roanoke Police are investigating after they said a man hit pedestrians walking on a sidewalk on Memorial Avenue, SW Sunday, January 21 before hitting a parked car on a street up the road.
Police said officers were called to the 1900 block of Memorial Avenue, SW around 10:45 p.m. Sunday to investigate the report that a car had hit several pedestrians and left the scene.
They said officers found three victims who had been hit.
Police identified the victims as Christopher Eric Lafon, 35, of Roanoke, Antonio Christopher Napper, 33, of Goodview, and Nathaniel Caleb Perry, 31, of Roanoke.
All three victims were taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Witnesses told officers that the victims were hit by a white vehicle while they were walking on the sidewalk between 1902 and 1908 Memorial Avenue, SW and the vehicle left the scene headed south on Winborne Avenue, SW.
A little while later, police said they got a call about a white vehicle that had hit a parked vehicle in the 1700 block of Windsor Avenue, SW.
Officers located the driver, William Thomas Sprouse, 35, of Roanoke at the intersection of Windsor Avenue, SW and Mount Vernon Road.
He's been charged with driving under the influence, three counts of felony hit and run, and one count of misdemeanor hit and run.
Police said Sprouse was taken to the hospital for evaluation and then taken to Roanoke City Jail.
