The Roanoke, Lynchburg and New River Valley areas remain under a Winter Storm Warning through Wednesday afternoon.

Lingering snow, ice and freezing rain continue to bring slippery roads, school and business closings, and scattered power outages.

Public Works and VDOT continue to work on and salt the roads.

Officials say if you don't have to be out on the roadways, it's best to stay home for now.

Power outages continue, especially in the Roanoke, New River Valley, Bedford County and Franklin County areas.

Precipitation is expected to turn over to rain later on Wednesday, bringing a possibility of flooding in some areas.

Virginia State Police reported over 700 vehicle accidents across the state on Tuesday.

Five people were hurt in an accident in Campbell County Tuesday afternoon when an SUV collided with a VDOT snow plow. Read the story from ABC13 - WSET.
