LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — All of our area will be impacted by a major winter storm this weekend.

The risk for electricity loss is also increasing. Unfortunately, the forecast snow totals are decreasing. That means more freezing rain and sleet.

Snow will change to sleet and freezing rain by late Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon. This increases the risk of power outages, especially in Southside Virginia.

Power outages will be possible across the Lynchburg area and Roanoke, but power loss should be scattered and not widespread.

Freezing rain will be thicker across Southside and the risk of outages increases for Danville and South Boston.
