Virginia Tech Names Brent Pry as New Head Football Coach

Virginia Tech has officially announced that Penn State Defensive Coordinator, Brent Pry, has accepted the Football Head Coaching position.

Virginia Tech President Tim Sands and Director of Athletics Whit Babcock made the announcement on Tuesday.

Pry has been the defensive coordinator/linebackers coach at Penn State for the last eight seasons.

Pry worked as a defensive graduate assistant for the Hokies from 1995-97 under head coach Frank Beamer.

"On behalf of Amy and our family, we are extremely grateful to President Sands and Whit for extending us this opportunity at Virginia Tech," Pry said.

Interim Head Coach J.C. Price is expected to stay on as associate head coach/defensive coach.

A formal announcement welcoming Pry will be made Thursday, December 2 at 9:00 am in Blacksburg and will be live streamed at HokieSports.com/watch.
