LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Heavy rain with a few strong storms are expected Thursday afternoon for Virginia and the Carolinas.
Most rain totals will reach at least 1” with a few totals near 2” possible.
A broken line of showers and t-storms will advance eastward across our area late morning and early/mid-afternoon.
A few severe weather warnings are possible. Warnings are most likely where temperatures are warmer than 65 degrees, though a warning can’t be ruled out anywhere.
Most will be severe thunderstorm warnings. This is for wind gusts near 60 mph and up to quarter-size hail. An isolated tornado warning is possible.
The highest severe threat is south and east of Lynchburg in the warmer air.
