Flooding Concerns Continue in Roanoke and Lynchburg Areas

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Record rainfall totals were clocked in around the region Wednesday, Nov. 11.

On Thursday morning, Nov. 12, ABC13 is keeping an eye out for high water. Southside could pick up an additional 2"+.

Rivers will be cresting Thursday night and Friday, Nov. 13.

Crews responded to a swift water rescue in Roanoke on Thursday, Nov. 12.

According to Roanoke Fire-EMS, units headed to Bennington and 9th St SE to help a resident stuck in floodwaters.

Heavy rainfall continues to flood several roads throughout the city.

Authorities ask drivers not to go around barricades on flooded streets.

The water treatment plant in Brookneal is under water and officials are asking residents there to conserve water.

Officials with Appalachian Power are advising property owners and visitors that the Smith Mountain Reservoir will exceed its full pond level by two feet Thursday afternoon.
