VDH Reports 31,140 COVID-19 Cases and 1,014 Deaths Statewide

RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) -- The new numbers released by the Virginia Department of Health Monday, May 18 show an increase of 752 cases from Sunday as the state continues to move forward in Phase One of Governor Ralph Northam's 'Forward Virginia'plan.

The VDH is reporting a total of 31,140 COVID-19 cases in the state; 29,591 are confirmed and 1,549 are probable.

The number of deaths reported is 1,014, an increase of 5 from Sunday.

The Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association dashboard on Monday reports that there are 972 confirmed positive COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Virginia and 530 patients are hospitalized waiting for their test results.

Of those numbers, 361 patients are in the ICU, and 194 patients are on a ventilator.
