How to Make Your Own Cloth Face Mask Even If You Don't Sew

The CDC and Virginia's Governor recommend wearing cloth face masks when you're out in public in order to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.

Gov. Northam, who is physician, says while homemade cloth masks are not medical grade, they can help reduce the spread of the coronavirus through sneezing or talking, and the masks can help keep you from touching your face.

A tightly woven, high-thread-count fabric is preferred and masks should be washed daily.

The CDC's website has instructions for making your own cloth face mask, including some no-sew options:

Use of Cloth Face Coverings to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19

The Centers for Disease Control announced that all Americans should wear masks – even if it’s a homemade mask or bandana. Look for fabric that’s 100% cotton -- and a coffee filter inside your bandana makes it much more effective. Don’t get a false sense of security. Masks can’t fully protect you from coronavirus, so you still need to stay at least 6 feet away from others in public and wash your hands. A lot. (MarketWatch)
